Development of Russian electronics. The history of one enterprise.
More than a quarter of a century has passed since the collapse of the USSR. Practically they were not engaged in modernization of production for the production of modern element base.
Many enterprises ceased to exist in the nineties, and today it is with great difficulty that this direction has to be restored. And electronic products are needed, especially for orders of a defense nature. However, there are enterprises that have managed not only to survive difficult times, but also to build up their potential.
One of them is located in Ulyanovsk. This is the joint-stock company “Ulyanovsk Instrument-Making Design Bureau”, abbreviated as UKBP. More than 65 years have passed since the founding of the enterprise, and today it is a leader in the domestic aviation industry. UKBP has gone through a difficult path of development and, despite the collapse of the Union and the turbulent 90s, it was able not only to maintain its design potential, but also to develop its production base.
The company’s specialists are engaged in the development of modern electronic components. They also manufacture equipment for aircraft, and perform work on after-sales support of the complexes.
All domestic aircraft and helicopters are equipped with avionics systems manufactured in Ulyanovsk. The bureau also manufactures control systems for automation of ground-based technical equipment and produces components for medical equipment and hydropower.
After the modernization of production facilities, UKBP, together with the Utes enterprise, manufactures components for Russian enterprises operating in the field of aircraft and helicopter construction.
And if several decades ago the enterprise produced sensors and electromechanical devices, today the UKBP develops and produces integrated flight and navigation systems and high-precision measuring systems for the aircraft industry. By the way, ground military equipment is also equipped with Ulyanovsk-made electronic components.
The domestic enterprise has recently become a part of the structure of the Concern Radioelectronic Technologies Joint Stock Company. In the structure of the concern itself, more than twenty enterprises of the radio-electronic industry are involved, located in different time zones of our country. The enterprises of the concern produce the entire technological chain, the initial element of which is a printed circuit board, and the final element is a turnkey finished product.
